The GIANTS are delighted to announce a three-year contract extension for head coach Adam Kingsley.
Already contracted until the end of next season, the new deal will see Kingsley remain at the helm of the club’s AFL side until at least the end of the 2028 season.
With the club heading towards a second successive finals campaign under his leadership, Kingsley’s extension for a further three years is exciting news for the club.
“Adam has clearly had a profound impact on our playing group over the last 18 months and we’re thrilled to secure him as our head coach for three more years on top of his current contract for next season,” GIANTS Chief Executive Officer David Matthews said.
“He has a great understanding of the game and a game plan built for success, and we are confident he can lead our program into an exciting future.
“Adam has a great ability to teach, motivate and inspire the group and we see him as the ideal person to continue to coach our AFL side as we strive for the ultimate success.”
A premiership winner and club champion as a player with Port Adelaide, Kingsley has had a profound impact in his first senior coaching role at the GIANTS, taking the club from 16th in 2022 to within a point of a grand final berth in his debut season last year.
GIANTS General Manager of Football, Jason McCartney, said the club is looking forward to the program developing under Kingsley.
“It’s been fantastic to see the impact Adam has had since arriving just over 18 months ago,” McCartney said.
“Alongside the rest of the coaching group and wider football department, we’re looking forward to the continued development of our program as we strive towards another finals series this year.”
Named the AFL Coaches Association’s 2023 Coach of the Year for his standout debut season, Kingsley has continued an impressive 18 months at the helm of the club, with the GIANTS currently sitting inside the top eight with five rounds remaining and on the charge towards the club’s seventh finals campaign in 13 seasons.
Kingsley led the GIANTS to wins at 11 different venues last season - setting a new VFL/AFL record - while also guiding the club to its first-ever 5-0 start to a season to open the 2024 campaign.
Kingsley was appointed the club’s head coach ahead of the 2023 season following a 15-year coaching apprenticeship with Port Adelaide, St Kilda and Richmond – with Kingsley a leading assistant to Damien Hardwick for the Tigers’ 2019 and 2020 premierships.
Kingsley’s three-year extension comes following three straight wins for the GIANTS who will continue their finals push with a clash against the Demons at the MCG on Saturday night.
