Talented teenager Harvey Thomas has had his brilliant debut season rewarded with a one-year contract extension.

Already signed on for next season, Thomas has inked a new deal that will see the 18-year-old remain a GIANT until at least the end of the 2026 AFL season.

Taken with pick 59 in last year’s draft after being named the 2023 GIANTS Academy Player of the Year, Thomas has made an immediate impact in his first season at the club where he’s played in all of the GIANTS’ 18 games so far.

Hailing from Wagga Wagga and a part of the National Championship- winning Allies side last year, Thomas has quickly found a role across half-forward at the GIANTS where his silky skills and football smarts have cemented a place in Adam Kingsley’s side each week.

Thomas’ one-year contract extension comes just weeks after the tough and classy half-forward was named the AFL’s Telstra Rising Star nominee for round 14 after collecting 15 disposals and kicking a goal in the win over Port Adelaide to continue his case as one of the steals of last year’s draft.

GIANTS Executive General Manager of Football, Jason McCartney, said the club is excited to extend Thomas’ contract.

"Harvey has been exceptional since joining our club. His dedication to apply himself and get better and buy into the program has been evident since day one,” McCartney said.

“It’s been great to see his development through the GIANTS Academy and since joining the AFL program he’sadapted seamlessly and is always eager to learn and become the best player he can be.

“We are thrilled to have him in a GIANTS jumper for at least two more years in what we view as a really exciting time for the footy club as we continue to strive for the ultimate team success.”

Thomas’ signature comes following a host of huge re-signings for the club this season, with star full forward Jesse Hogan, All-Australian defender Sam Taylor, and prized number one pick Aaron Cadman all recently inking new deals to remain at the GIANTS.
