Key GIANTS Josh Kelly and Lachie Ash have both been diagnosed with calf injuries following Saturday’s loss to the Bombers.
Both players played out the game on Saturday before reporting soreness and subsequently undergoing scans on Monday.
The scans revealed that both players suffered tendon injuries and are expected to be sidelined for six weeks each.
“It’s disappointing news for both Josh and Lachie,” GIANTS Head of Medical James Rahme said.
“They played out the game on the weekend with their calf issues only becoming apparent in the days following.
“They’re both the ultimate professionals and will attack their rehab to return after the bye.”
Meanwhile, Leek Aleer will be unavailable for this week as he progresses through the concussion protocols following a head knock in the second quarter of Saturday’s VFL match.
Aleer came from the field and was ruled out with concussion and will now progress through to the 12-day protocols.
Back home in Sydney for the first time in more than nine weeks, the GIANTS will host the Bulldogs in a clash at ENGIE Stadium this Saturday as the club debuts its special 2024 Indigenous jumper to celebrate Sir Doug Nicholls Round.
