The GIANTS’ VFL side has landed a major coup with former Swan Marc Sheather coming on board for season 2024.
Sheather, 21, joins the GIANTS after three years on the Swans’ list where he managed three AFL appearances in 2023 after overcoming numerous injury setbacks.
A tough utility capable of playing across all three lines, Sheather was elevated to the Swans’ AFL list via the 2021 Rookie Draft as a category B rookie but struggled with injury setbacks in his time in red and white.
Now fully fit and healthy, Sheather will don the orange and charcoal as he looks to make an immediate impact for the GIANTS’ VFL side.
Hailing from Forresters Beach on the Central Coast, Sheather is excited for a big 2024 as a GIANT.
“I was lucky enough to be with the Swans for three years….and I was really grateful for that, but I’m really looking forward to coming and playing for the GIANTS,” he said.
“It’s a new environment and a new opportunity and to stay local is really positive for me.”
The former Killarney Vale Bombers junior has been training at the club with his new teammates since December and was upbeat about what the VFL side could produce this season.
“[We are shaping up] really good actually,” Sheather said.
“The boys are crackers, and we’ve got a good development squad here.
“And the coaches are great, I’ve got a good relationship with Jeremy Laidler, and ‘Crippa’ [VFL head coach Wayne Cripps], so it looks like it’s going to be a fun year.
“I like to think I’m a hardnut sort of footy player and in and under and hopefully I can add a bit of that to my footy this year and hopefully the GIANTS go well.”
