The GIANTS will enter the 2023 finals series with the Orange Army at its most powerful, with the club breaking its all-time membership record with more than 33,000 members.
Reaching an official tally of 33,036 members at the AFL’s 2023 season membership cut-off date, the feat is the first time the GIANTS have surpassed 33,000 members since their introduction to the AFL just 12 years ago.
The GIANTS have quickly become one of the most exciting teams in the competition under new coach Adam Kingsley this season, with the Orange Army jumping on board in full force to set a new record on their surge towards September.
The AFL’s youngest club has now topped 30,000 members for the fifth consecutive season.
GIANTS Chief Executive Officer David Matthews said it was an exciting achievement as the club prepared for its cut-throat elimination final with the Saints at the MCG on Saturday.
“To break our all-time membership record is an amazing achievement and a rather significant one,” Mr Matthews said.
“With Adam Kingsley leading an exciting new era in our AFL program, as well as Cam Bernasconi in his second season with our AFLW side, our members have continued to remain as loyal and as supportive as ever.
“It is an incredibly exciting time to break our membership record, with our AFLW season now underway while our AFL program prepares for its elimination final with the Saints.
“Members are the lifeblood of any club and to have more than 33,000 passionate members supporting us is incredible for a club still so young, and it’s exciting to see where we can grow the number to.
“Whether you’ve been with us from the start as a foundation member, or 2023 is your first year, your support at GIANTS Stadium, Manuka Oval, and across the country is invaluable to us.
“As we prepare for our biggest game of the season against the Saints on Saturday, we look forward to the Orange Army’s continued support as we look to continue our march through September.
“Now is truly the best time to be a GIANT.”
The GIANTS’ AFL side will clash with the Saints in the second elimination final at the MCG on Saturday at 3:20pm while the AFLW team will take on Melbourne at Manuka Oval on Sunday.
