2022 S7 in a nutshell: The GIANTS were hit hard with injuries in season seven but the need to exploit the depth of their list saw some of the GIANTS’ young stars shine on the big stage. In his first year as head coach, Cam Bernasconi implemented a new game plan that developed as the season went on. The GIANTS were dealt their fair share of tough losses but ended the season with an impressive win by 12 points over the Gold Coast Suns. The round 10 win was one of four for the season, which saw the GIANTS finish in 11th position.

Circle it: The opening-round clash with the Swans is bound to be one marked on the calendars of all footy fans in NSW and ACT. The 2023 season is just the second time the two teams have met in the format of the AFLW game, with the GIANTS defeating the expansion side in the first outing in round three last year at the SCG.
Player to watch: 2019 Gabrielle Trainor Medallist Rebecca Beeson is set to return to the field for the GIANTS this season after missing majority of the past two seasons with concussion implications. The 26-year-old is an inaugural GIANT and has put her experience and class on display this pre-season. Beeson feels like a new recruit for the GIANTS and is set to make a big big impact.
Best Rising Star chance: Zarlie Goldsworthy
