GIANTS young gun Finn Callaghan will be a test to face Port Adelaide in Adelaide this week after being a late withdrawal from last week’s Sydney Derby.
The second-year GIANT, who is having a break-out season, didn’t make it through the warm up ahead of Sydney Derby XXVI after struggling with achilles soreness.
The 20-year-old midfielder will need to train fully this week to take his place in the crunch clash against the Power on Sunday afternoon.
GIANTS Head of Medical James Rahme said:
“Finn has been managing some soreness for a few weeks and just couldn’t get through warm up on Saturday night,” he said.
“He’ll build up his training this week in a bid to take on the Power but we’ll assess later in the week if he’s ready to go.”
Meanwhile, ruck Braydon Preuss is set to return to the field in the VFL this weekend after a series of setbacks as he managed a persistent back injury.
“It’s great news for Preussy,” Rahme said.
“It’s been a tough season as he managed an injury that game him quite debilitating pain at times.
“After building up his training over recent weeks, it’s exciting that he’s at the stage where he can return to the field and we expect him to play some managed minutes in the VFL on Saturday.”
The GIANTS take on Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval on Sunday at 4:40pm.
