A trio of important GIANTS could return to the field this weekend.
Tough midfielder and leadership group member Harry Perryman is in line to play his first match since suffering a hamstring injury in round one.
Defender Leek Aleer could also return from a quad injury he sustained in the final training session before round one.
Meanwhile, recruit Toby Bedford could also line up in GIANTS colours for the first time in his comeback from a hamstring injury.
GIANTS Head of Medical James Rahme said:
“It’s exciting to have Harry, Leek and Toby so close to returning to play,” he said.
“They all did a big session on Monday to set them up for the week and will tick off their final requirements at main training on Thursday.
“From there the coaches will make a decision on what level each of them play depending on how long they’ve been sidelined but it will be great to see them back out on the field.”
Meanwhile, draftee Darcy Jones has undergone successful surgery after having a knee reconstruction last week.
The GIANTS take on the Brisbane Lions on Saturday with the AFL sides clashing at Manuka Oval in Canberra while the VFL sides match up at Blacktown International Sportspark.
