The Greater Western Sydney GIANTS paid a special visit to the Good Samaritan Catholic College in Hinchinbrook on Tuesday morning.
Number one draft pick, Jonathon Patton and Tomas Bugg made a presentation to the school’s victorious year eight AFL side.
The year eight side took out the Macarthur Independent Schools Association inter-school competition, going through undefeated in their first year of competition.
The school has been involved in the AFL’s “Introduction to AFL” program since 2010, and students received AFL packs and footballs, whilst the victorious year eight side also recieved GIANTS caps.
The GIANTS also donated a signed Guernsey, which the school plans to auction off, with the proceeds going to local charities.
The Schools Sport’s Coordinator, John Wheeler said that the students have really enjoyed becoming involved in AFL.
“The kid’s have loved it. We have many boys and girls who are willing to get involved and participate in the program.
“AFL is growing in the region- every Saturday morning I see children playing the game everywhere.
“MISA is bringing so many people to AFL, we already have children coming and asking how they can be involved in the AFL sides next year.”
