The GIANTS will play four big home games across Sydney and Canberra following today’s official release of the 2018 NAB AFL Women's fixture.
After three home games in the inaugural seven-week AFLW season earlier this year, year two of the competition will see a fourth additional GIANTS home game in Sydney.
The GIANTS will be bringing an AFLW home game to Drummoyne Oval for the first time in round two of the competition on Friday February 9.
Twilight football will come to Blacktown International Sportspark in round four on Sunday, February 25 as the GIANTS take on the Adelaide Crows in one of two games in Western Sydney.
The GIANTS will also play a blockbuster Friday night clash at Blacktown on Friday March 16 against the Brisbane Lions in the final round of the regular season (round seven).
The GIANTS will once again take on the Western Bulldogs at UNSW Canberra Oval on Saturday March 10 after more than 6,000 fans turned out for last season’s clash.
“As the only AFL Women’s team in NSW and the ACT we have actively pushed to take the game to new venues this season so we’re really excited to be playing at Drummoyne Oval,” said GIANTS CEO David Matthews.
“After the success and support of last season, we’re thrilled to be playing two home games in Blacktown and a huge Saturday night clash Canberra.
“These are our traditional home grounds and we can’t wait to see our members and supporters at our four home games in 2018.”
Each of the eight sides will play each other once with the top two ranked teams to face off in the NAB AFL Women’s Grand Final on the opening weekend of the AFL Premiership Season.
The 2018 AFLW Season will see standalone AFLW matches played in primetime Friday night slots in weeks one and two of the men's JLT Community Series with no double headers scheduled.
