Where and When: Sunday, July 3 at 3:20pm, GIANTS Stadium
Last time they met:
Hawthorn hung on against a fast-finishing GIANTS side to clinch their fourth win of the season at the MCG in round 15 last year. The contest was on the GIANTS’ terms in the early stages of their first 'home' game after escaping Sydney's growing COVID-19 cluster. Despite the impressive start, Alastair Clarkson’s side held on to record an 18-point win. Lachie Whitfield was impressive for the GIANTS, registering 30 disposals as he continued his comeback from a bruised liver.
Broadcast:
Sunday’s match will be shown live on 7mate in NSW and the ACT from 3pm and across the Seven Network as well as on Fox Sports 3 and Kayo nationally. The match will also be shown via the AFL Live app with a subscription purchase.
The match can also be heard on the following radio stations in Sydney this week: SEN’s AFL Nation and ABC Radio.

What it means for the GIANTS:
Since Mark McVeigh took over in the coaches' box, the GIANTS have won two of their last five games, losing narrowly to the Dogs, Lions and Pies who all sit inside the top eight. In what will be just the fourth game of the season at GIANTS Stadium this weekend, the GIANTS have another opportunity to continue instilling new habits, looking at what players can do in different parts of the ground and maximising results from the 2022 season.
Where’s the opposition at?
The GIANTS currently sit above the Hawks on the ladder, and with Sam Mitchell’s side winless in their last four, the GIANTS will look to take advantage and return to the winners’ list this weekend.
Player watch:
Jesse Hogan kicked a season-high four goals in the narrow defeat to the Magpies – giving him 20 in 11 games – and feels physically superior to this time last season in a positive for him and the GIANTS’ forward line.
In the mix:
The GIANTS could be bolstered by the return of Jacob Hopper this weekend after the midfield bull returned to full training this week, with veteran Matt de Boer also returning to training after exiting concussion protocols. Rucks Matt Flynn (quad) and Braydon Preuss (ankle) are tests to take on the Hawks, while Will Shaw, Cam Fleeton and Callum Brown have all impressed recently in the VFL.
