For the first time ever, GIANTS Academy will head into the NAB AFL U16 National Championships as its own team in the male space.

Previous years have seen AFL NSW/ACT select a joint state team, however in 2022 both the GIANTS and Swans will compete as their own teams.

The GIANTS will play three rounds in the National Championships with 23 players being selected from the squad for each round. 

Canberra Academy Coach Mark Armstrong will lead the team as Head Coach, supported by regional coaches to assist.

Round 1: Saturday, 18th June v Sydney Swans at BISP, Sydney (12.30pm) at BISP, Sydney (in Fri night, out Sat arvo)

Round 2: Monday, 4th July v Gold Coast Suns at Metricon Stadium, Gold Coast (10am) 

Round 3: Friday, 8th July v Brisbane Lions at Manuka Oval, Canberra (1.30pm)

In the female space, the GIANTS will play two rounds in the National Championships against cross town rivals the Sydney Swans with 24 players being selected from the squad for each round.

Western Sydney Female Academy Coach Brent Trewin will head up leading our female squad as Head Coach, with the support from a number of GIANTS AFLW players as assistants.
