Our Season Summary looks back at how each GIANTS player fared during the 2015 AFL season.

Name: Stephen Coniglio
Number: 3
2015 Games: 18 AFL
AFL Fantasy Average: 90
Awards: Nil

Background: Stephen Coniglio was selected by the GIANTS with pick 2 in the 2011 NAB AFL Draft.

Best Game: Round 7 Carlton - 32 touches, 5 marks, 5 tackles and 1 goal.

Summary: It was a career-best season for Stephen Coniglio who was arguably one of the GIANTS’ most consistent performers. The midfielder averaged a record 23.4 disposals, 3.6 marks and 5.4 tackles per game. He played most of the season, except for a 3-week period mid-year when he injured his AC joint against Collingwood. At times Coniglio played a somewhat different role for the team, picking up the opposition’s best midfielder while still trying to have an influence in attack. He adapted to the role immediately. In Round 2 against Melbourne Coniglio was given the tough job of running with Demons skipper Nathan Jones who had one of his lowest outputs of the season (11 touches, 1 mark and 2 tackles). Coniglio also signed a two-year contract extension that will see him remain at the club until at least the end of 2017.

Pat On The Back: With so many quality midfielders at the GIANTS, Coniglio was understandably keen to distinguish himself. He is now considered the club’s first-choice run-with player.

What They Said: "I've been pretty comfortable with where I've been at all year. Firstly I wanted to get my spot in the team, and then consistently perform, which I've been able to do” - Stephen Coniglio

Look Ahead: Entering his fifth season, Coniglio now well and truly understands the rigours of the AFL. His leadership has always been exceptional and he will continue to help the GIANTS’ young brigade of mids.
