The GIANTS have added five to their squad to face Richmond at the MCG on Sunday.
Defender Nick Haynes, key forward Jesse Hogan, ruck Braydon Preuss, young midfielder Tanner Bruhn and utility James Peatling have all been named on an extended interchange bench in the GIANTS’ 26-man-squad.
Out of the squad is star midfielder Jacob Hopper who has been managed following an interrupted pre-season.
Hopper had post-season knee surgery which has affected his preparations for the season with the club opting to rest the midfield bull for this week.
The side could be bolstered by the return of experienced duo Nick Haynes and Jesse Hogan.
All Australian defender Haynes missed round one with stomach issues that have plagued the 2020 Kevin Sheedy Medallist over the past month.
Hogan has continued to ramp up his training following soreness after a practice match in Albury in late February.
Both Haynes and Hogan played in a VFL practice match last weekend and trained strongly on Thursday.
Ruck Braydon Preuss could make his GIANTS debut after also being named on the extended interchange. The former Kangaroo and Demon was unavailable in round one due to suspension.
Last week’s unused medi-sub Tanner Bruhn could also come into the side, along with local utility James Peatling who’s played both back and forward across pre-season.
The final team will be named at 5pm on Friday.
The GIANTS take on the Tigers at the MCG on Sunday at 3:20pm, live on 7mate in NSW and the ACT and on Fox Footy and Kayo all around Australia.
