Nicola Barr and Tarni Evans will be sidelined for a large portion of pre-season following confirmation of training injuries suffered in recent weeks.
Barr, who enters her sixth season with the GIANTS, suffered a shoulder injury at training. The club has opted to avoid surgery – which would likely rule her out for the upcoming season – with Barr to undergo an extensive rehabilitation program in attempt to be ready for round one.
Second year player Tarni Evans, who just last week won the 2km time trial, will sit out training for the next six weeks after scans revealed a stress fracture in her foot.
Evans’ full rehab and return to play process is expected to take 12-14 weeks, with the aim that she will return in the early rounds of the season.
Both players will work closely with the club’s medical staff over the coming months in order to return to full fitness as soon as possible.
The GIANTS continue their preparations ahead of the 2022 NAB AFLW season, which is set to commence first weekend of January.
