The GIANTS have received another draft pick as the club bids farewell to Courtney Murphy.
With the AFLW Trade Period getting under way on Thursday, Murphy departs for Essendon in exchange for pick 65 in the upcoming Telstra AFLW Draft on Monday, December 16.
The incoming pick will add to the GIANTS’ extensive draft hand with the club currently set to enter the 2024 AFLW draft with picks 3, 21, 39, 57, 65, 75, 93, 111, and 129.
Murphy joins the Bombers following a 12-month stint with the GIANTS which saw the 24-year-old play one game during the 2024 season after joining the club via a trade with Brisbane.
A tall forward/ruck, Murphy made her AFLW debut in the GIANTS’ round two clash with Richmond but was unable to add further to her tally in orange and charcoal.
GIANTS Executive General Manager of AFLW and Football Operations, Alison Zell said:
“I’d like to thank Courtney for her contribution to the GIANTS over the past year and wish her all the very best for the future.”
The AFLW Trade Period runs until Wednesday, December 11, with the AFLW Draft scheduled for Monday, December 16.
