A former Port Adelaide premiership player and Club Champion, Brett Montgomery joined the GIANTS’ coaching staff ahead of the 2023 season to work alongside former premiership teammate and new GIANTS head coach Adam Kingsley.
Montgomery’s appointment was part of a new-look coach group under Kingsley which went on to reach a preliminary final in their first year together following a 16th place finish the year prior.
The GIANTS’ backline and team defence coach, Montgomery provides a wealth of coaching experience to the club, having worked at Carlton, the Western Bulldogs and Port Adelaide over 13 years as an assistant coach.
The 2025 AFL season is Montgomer'ys third as a GIANTS assistant coach.
Montgomery also briefly worked with the GIANTS in 2018 as an opposition analyst.
During his playing career, Montgomery played 204 games for the Western Bulldogs and Port Adelaide from 1997-2007, winning the John Cahill Medal as the Power’s Club Champion in 2000 as well as being named on the half back line in the 2002 All- Australian team.
