Zippy small forward Brent Daniels is the GIANTS’ only inclusion for Sunday’s home game against Hawthorn at the MCG.
Daniels replaces Tom Green who has been omitted from the side.
GIANTS coach Leon Cameron said:
“We’re excited to have Brent back. He’s a really important part of our side and we look forward to welcoming him back to our forward line.
“We’ve given him an extra three weeks of training after that repeat hamstring but that means he has the work and confidence in his body to slot straight back into AFL level.”
Cameron said the second-year Green will go back to the lower level to find some confidence and form.
“Tom will play in the VFL against the Swans on Sunday evening,” he said.
“He’s showed some great form this year but, by his own admission, has been down in recent weeks.
“He’ll go back to the lower level to work on some things, find some confidence and get back to his best and we have no doubt we’ll see him back at AFL level soon.”
Cameron said his side are relishing the opportunity to take on the Hawks at the home of football on Sunday afternoon.
“The week started with a whirlwind dash out of Sydney but we’ve settled really well and are really embracing the opportunity,” he said.
“We rarely get a chance to play at the MCG and we had a great win here earlier this year so we’re excited to get back out there.
“The Hawks have been in some terrific form, they’re a well-coached and well-drilled side and we’re expecting them to be at their best on Sunday afternoon.
“It’ll be a wonderful clash and we hope all footy fans can come along and watch not only the Hawks but also some of our great players in action.”
The GIANTS take on the Hawks at the MCG on Sunday at 1:10pm.
