As Saturday’s clash with the Lions draws closer we take a look at the news coming from the Gabba this week.
Dayne Beams has sung the praises of fellow midfielder Dayne Zorko, telling a media conference on Monday that his teammate should be in consideration for the Virgin Australian AFL All Australian team.
"I don't think Zork gets the credit he should.
"If he was playing at a Melbourne club - and I've played at a Melbourne club - and producing the type of footy he's producing, he'd be talked about a lot.
"I look at the competition now, I watch a bit of footy, and he's a top five player.
"He's always been a very talented player but probably maybe lacked a bit of consistency, but he's producing every week now and is vitally important for us.
"His form's as good as anyone's."
Zorko is averaging 27 disposals and kicked 18 goals so far in 2017 and his last month has seen him first in the competition for inside 50’s, and in the top ten for kicks, loose ball gets and clearances.
Heath Shaw’s 250 game milestone hasn’t gone unnoticed with Beams – a former Collingwood teammate and best friend - preparing to unleash some friendly banter.
"Why not? He's got Twitter. I might do something like that if you've got any suggestions," Beams said.
"I think fans want to see that from players.
"I think it's great theatre. When you're watching the game it makes for those one-on-one rivalries. I think it's great.”
Meanwhile assistant coach Jed Adcock believes the Lions are ready to take on the second placed GIANTS, despite losing to Port Adelaide by 40-points last Saturday.
“Although we still lost the game, I think we saw we had the ability to stay in the game for longer and probably up until the last 10 minutes we were still within a chance to win the game,” said Adcock.
“Hopefully what we’ve seen is development over the past six weeks, especially the last couple of weeks we’ve been playing more the style of footy we want to play.”
The Lions haven’t hinted at making any changes to their side to face the GIANTS and - apart from season ending injuries to Mitch Robinson and Allen Christensen – boast a fully fit playing list to choose from.
