The GIANTS will step up their campaign for 2014 with a training camp on the Sunshine Coast next month.
Pre-season training for the majority of the GIANTS playing list started this week and the seven week pre-Christmas training block will conclude with a week-long training camp in Noosa.
The entire football department of about 70 players and staff will travel north for the week December 15-21 and will be based at the Noosa Tigers AFL club in Noosaville.
Head Coach Leon Cameron said: “The Sunshine Coast is an excellent location for our training camp as it gives our players an opportunity to train hard in warm, tropical conditions and build on their fitness base as they prepare for the 2014 season.
“I would like to thank the Noosa Tigers for the chance to use their facilities as well as the Sunshine Coast Council and Tourism Noosa for welcoming us. We are looking forward to getting up there and making the most of this opportunity to train hard and spend valuable time together before the Christmas break.”
General Manager of Tourism Noosa, Damien Massingham said “We are delighted to welcome the GIANTS to Noosa. Their visit highlights the desirability of Noosa being a great training destination for elite athletes.”
Earlier this year Noosa welcomed the British & Irish Lions who chose Noosa for their rest and recovery week as part of their international tour. Noosa also plays home to many international athletes who train there including Pete Jacobs and Darren and Jordan Mercer.
Cr Russell Green from the Sunshine Coast Council said: “The GIANTS training camp in is a great opportunity to showcase the region and the diversity of great facilities on offer.”
