Daniel Lloyd will play his first game of the season, returning to the side for the GIANTS’ clash with Essendon at GIANTS Stadium on Saturday.

Draftee Tanner Bruhn will also return to the side while Zach Sproule will play his second game of the season.

Sam Reid (hamstring) and Brent Daniels (hamstring) go out of the side after suffering injuries in last week’s win over the Crows while Jesse Hogan won’t play as a precaution.

“Jesse felt a bit of tightness in his calf during training on Friday so we just opted not to risk him,” coach Leon Cameron said.

“It’s only very minor but it’s a long season and we want him out on the field more often than not.”

Cameron said he is looking forward to welcoming 29-year-old Lloyd back into the side after missing the first seven rounds with a quad injury.

“He’ll come straight back in, he’s been a regular of our side for a few years now and we trust him to come in and play his role.

“Tanner has continued to develop across the season and after strong VFL form we’re looking forward to seeing him run out at GIANTS Stadium tomorrow.

“Zach has taken his game to another level this season. He’s a reliable tall option up forward and has a huge work-rate.”

Bruhn had 23 disposals, six tackles and kicked a goal in the GIANTS’ VFL win over Southport last week while Sproule has kicked five goals over the opening three rounds of the VFL season.

Sproule last played against the Dockers in round two where he kicked two goals.
