NEAFL Coach Brett Hand has been named Coach of the Year at the 2015 NEAFL Awards Ceremony with three GIANTS in the Team of the Year.
After leading the UWS GIANTS to their second successive minor premiership, GIANTS Head of Development Brett Hand was named the league’s best coach at an awards ceremony in Brisbane on Sunday night.
Hand joined the GIANTS before their inception and has been NEAFL Coach since 2012.
After bowing out in the preliminary final last year, Hand has coached the UWS GIANTS to 16 wins and just two losses this season to have them perfectly placed for a tilt at their first-ever NEAFL Premiership.
Curtly Hampton, Jed Lamb and Jake Barrett have also all been named in the Team of the Year.
Hampton has played 14 NEAFL games this year, kicking eight goals and averaging over 21 touches a game. Lamb has kicked 43 goals in 16 games and averaged six marks a game.
Barrett, named on the interchange, played 17 games averaging almost 30 touches and seven tackles a game.
Enigmatic forward Will Hoskin-Elliott also won the NEAFL Goal of the Year after the below effort against Aspley at Spotless Stadium earlier this year.
After gathering the ball from a ruck contest at half-back before taking three bounces as he streamed through the middle of the ground before finishing truly from 40m out.
The UWS GIANTS suffered just their second loss of the season on Saturday when they went down to Sydney University 10.16 (76) to 16.13 (109).
The GIANTS finished the season on top of the NEAFL ladder and enjoy a week off before hosting an elimination final against either Aspley or the Swans reserves.
