The GIANTS have come through the weekend with no new injuries following the win over the Magpies in round four.
Midfielder Callan Ward came off the ground in the first quarter with a ‘stinger’ to his elbow but played out the game on his way to 37 touches for the night.
Captain Stephen Coniglio had surgery on his ankle and toe last week and begins his rehabilitation.
GIANTS Head of Medical Cullan Ball said:
“Following Stephen’s ankle injury in round three, we also had him scanned for a potential toe injury and that revealed a torn medial ligament in his big toe on the same foot as his ankle injury.
“He had surgery on both at the same time last Thursday, however his rehabilitation will take no additional time and he remains at that seven-to-nine week mark.”
Forward Jesse Hogan played in the VFL practice match on Friday and played three-and-a-half quarters, performing strongly in his first hit-out in GIANTS colours.
Hogan was named in the top couple of players on field and will be pushing his case at the selection table this week.
Meanwhile, Sam Reid will be available for selection following a two-week suspension and Braydon Preuss and Adam Kennedy are progressing well from their shoulder reconstructions.
