Second-year GIANT Tom Hutchesson has injured his hamstring tendon.
Hutchesson initially suffered a hamstring injury in late February and hurt his hamstring again in his return practice match on the weekend, with tendon involvement this time.
GIANTS Head of Medical Cullan Ball said:
“‘Hutch’ has re-injured the same tendon so this time will be sidelined for a couple of months.
“It’s disappointing for Tom who has a history of these type of injuries so we’ll be extra cautious with his recovery to allow him to come back in the best possible shape.”
Recruit Jesse Hogan will undergo a fitness test this week to be cleared for full training.
Hogan hurt his quad late in the pre-season and will be looking to return to the main group in his bid to take to the field for the first time as a GIANT.
“Jesse’s another we’ve been slow and steady with to make sure he’s 100 per cent right to go once he’s cleared,” Ball said.
“He’s come along really well and I expect him to fully complete main training this week.
“With no game at the Reserves level this week, it’s unlikely he’ll play a match this weekend.”
There were no injuries out of the GIANTS’ loss to the Dockers in Perth.
