Before the 2012 season starts, we’d like all of our members and fans to get to know some of the exciting young talent on our list.
Each week, we will be introducing you to a new GIANTS young gun.
Jeremy Cameron is a 196cm power forward who was selected by the GIANTS as a 17-year-old under the concessions that allowed us to pre list up to a dozen promising youngsters born between January and April 1993.
This week, GIANTS’ reporter Beck Mills caught up with Jeremy, to find out what his hobbies are, who his housemate is and why he hadn’t seen a live AFL game until he joined the GIANTS.
So firstly Jeremy, can you please tell us a little bit about yourself?
Hi, my name is Jeremy Cameron. I’m originally from Dartmoor and moved up to Sydney last year to play football.
I play centre half forward but I also play down back occasionally.
How did you get here, can you tell us a little bit about your journey to becoming a GIANT?
I played football for Dartmoor for one year, and then I went in to the TAC Cup (National Under 18 carnival). I played one year there then was drafted by the GIANTS as a 17 year old with a few of the other boys.
Who is your favorite footballer?
My favorite footballer is Buddy Franklin. I love Buddy; he’s a great player and an excitement machine. I love watching him kick goals.
When was the first AFL game that you ever saw live?
My first AFL game was at the MCG. I went and watched the 2010 drawn Grand Final as part of the AIS AFL Academy. I was very lucky to go to that and I loved it.
How old were you when you started playing football?
I started playing when I was 15 so I started pretty late and it just took off from there.
Have you played any other sports?
I played golf and cricket when I was a young fella. I took to footy pretty late.
What is your favorite TV Show?
The boys and I watch this show called river monsters. It’s a fishing show that we tune in to everyday. I’m also a huge Home and Away fan.
Who do you live with?
My new housemate is Jacob Townsend from Leeton. We are pretty similar so I love living with him.
Why are the two of your similar?
We’re just country boys. I love country boys, there are a lot of us around the club and he is hard at the footy, he always sticks his head in the hole as Choco would say.
What is your favourite colour?
My favourite colour is red. Or maybe orange (laughs), I guess we can change it to orange.
