The AFL has this afternoon confirmed the GIANTS will play Adelaide in round two of the NAB AFLW Women’s competition.

The GIANTS will take on the Crows as part of a revised second round fixture with the match to be held at Blacktown International Sportspark this Sunday at 5.10pm.

The round two game will be the GIANTS’ first home game of the season and follows lengthy discussions between the AFL, both clubs and their respective State Governments to ensure the match is a COVID-safe event.

Both teams have been in self isolation and abiding by State Government directions following their round one games in Perth.

As a result of both the GIANTS and the Crows playing in Perth last weekend when a locally acquired COVID-19 result was discovered, the AFL has advised the match will be closed to the general public.

AFL Head of Women’s Football Nicole Livingstone said the league would continue to take the advice of Governments and health officials and reminded the AFLW football community of the on-going challenges of the pandemic.

“While COVID-19 continues to impact the community, the health and welfare of our players and the community remains the priority and we remain committed to delivering a full season in a safe manner anchored in the advice of respective governments, public health officials and medical experts,” Ms Livingstone said.

“We will continue to remain as adaptable as possible as the season progresses in a constantly changing environment and we will listen to and work closely with each stakeholder to ensure the best possible outcome for everyone in the game.”

The GIANTS will continue to work closely with the AFL and the NSW Government to ensure that members and supporters are given the opportunity to attend upcoming GIANTS home games in the coming weeks.

The match will be available live on Foxtel, Kayo, AFLW Online site, AFL Telstra TV App, AFLW and AFL Official Apps. GIANTS matches are also broadcast live into NSW and the ACT free-to-air on 7mate.
