The GIANTS have broken their membership record for the ninth straight year, reaching 30,547 members this week.
The milestone comes just days out from Saturday’s clash with Fremantle in Perth which will be the club’s 200th AFL game.
It is the second year in a row that the GIANTS have passed 30,000 members – eclipsing last year’s total of 30,108 members - and maintains the club’s record of achieving membership growth every year since entering the AFL competition.
The GIANTS again have the second-highest membership tally across all codes in New South Wales and the ACT, behind only the Swans.
GIANTS Chief Executive David Matthews praised GIANTS members for achieving a record total during such a challenging AFL season.
“Thank you to our members for helping us achieve yet another membership record during what is a very difficult time,” Mr Matthews said.
“Despite the many COVID-19 challenges we’ve seen this year, our members have stuck by the club and we are extremely grateful for their support. Our members are the cornerstone of our club and they have shown incredible resilience this year.
“To have 94% of our members retain their membership this year, despite the circumstances, speaks to the strong culture and loyal fan base that has been built in less than a decade.
“Saturday is a significant day for our club as we celebrate our 200th game and it is a good opportunity to reflect on how much we’ve achieved on and off the field since entering the AFL competition in 2012.
“We have grown to include an AFLW side and a partnership with GIANTS Netball and have formed strong connections with the communities of Western Sydney and the ACT.
“On the field, we have consistently played finals football and remain hungry to achieve the ultimate success.
“I am excited by what’s to come next as the club continues to grow and as we create our own history.”
The club’s 199 games so far is made up of 188 regular season games and 11 finals for a record of 88 wins, 3 draws and 108 losses.
