GIANTS veteran Heath Shaw has labelled criticism of coach Leon Cameron "boring".

Last year's Grand Finalists have been heavily scrutinised after kicking just three goals in a 41-point loss to the Swans last week.

Despite being the only coach to lead a team to finals victories in all of the past four seasons, Cameron has once again been questioned.

“It actually gets a bit boring to be honest,” said Shaw when asked about the criticism of his coach on Tuesday.

“When we lose it’s Leon’s fault and we produce no effort and when we win it’s only on talent so it’s been a trend for a fairly long time with this club.

“Over a long period of time we’ve built some success on our foundations and a game style that works and players executing that game style and anyone who watched the game last week would know we’re not doing that (at the moment).”

Despite the loss that saw the GIANTS drop out of the top eight, Shaw says Cameron has been meticulous in his review of the game and preparation for the big challenge against West Coast in Perth on Sunday.

“I feel for him because he has to cop it but nothing really changes behind closed doors with him and the club and the players," Shaw said.

"We understand it wasn’t good enough last week and it’s a team and coaching staff effort (that’s required) rather than the coach’s game style that’s not right when you’re not doing things and not winning.

“That sort of stuff is going to come and I think to be honest it’ll come for the rest of the year and years to come with Leon no matter what, that’s just what has been branded at our club but we’ve made four consecutive finals series and we’ve built a reputation of being a good team and a great club and there’s no denying that - the record speaks for itself.

“One performance doesn’t make a season and we’re just looking forward to getting out there this week and having a win and even if they say it’s a win on talent, I’m happy to take that.”

The GIANTS could see star forward Toby Greene (hamstring) and former co-captain Phil Davis (knee) return in what would be a big boost against the red hot Eagles, who’ve won seven games in a row.
