The GIANTS will welcome back Toby Greene, Sam Jacobs and Daniel Lloyd for Friday night’s Grand Final re-match at GIANTS Stadium.
Jacobs replaces Shane Mumford (injured) for his fourth game in GIANTS colours since crossing from the Adelaide Crows at the end of last season.
Coach Leon Cameron said Mumford hurt his neck during last week’s clash with the Lions and hasn’t been able to prove his fitness in time.
“Mummy’s out injured after hurting his neck and he hasn’t come up,” Cameron said.
“He’s out and Sam Jacobs get his opportunity to stake his claim in the ruck. We look forward to it.
“He’s been working at his craft and areas he knows can be better at in the NEAFL level and he’s desperate to play.
“He gets a great opportunity against a good ruck combo at the Tigers.”
Greene (shin) and Lloyd (concussion) were late outs in round seven but slot straight back into the side after a strong week on the training track.
“Clearly Toby was a tough decision (last week) but he was still a bit sore and we pulled him out,” Cameron said.
“He’s trained this week and he’s keen to play.
“With Lloyd, we were really cautious of because it was a six-day turnaround from concussion. Even though he passed all the criteria, we decided we needed to give him a few more days.
“They come back in and they add experience to our front half and need to come in and help make a difference to our consistency levels.”
Cameron has said all week his side is looking forward to the challenge of taking on a Tigers team who have roared back into form over the past month.
“The Tigers have got a great ability to cover some injuries,” Cameron said.
“They’ve played three really good games of footy, their defence is phenomenal. They’re going to be extremely hard to beat.
“We have that opportunity on Friday night and we look forward to it. We can’t wait.”
The GIANTS will take on the Tigers at GIANTS Stadium on Friday night with limited tickets still available via Ticketmaster.
