With only one month to go before the Greater Western Sydney GIANTS run out for their first NAB Cup match in 2012 to take on Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs.
Pre Season training is in full swing in the GIANTS camp and today, Head Coach Kevin Sheedy discussed his side’s progress after a tough, three hour, full ground training session.
Sheedy said that he was impressed with the work rate of his young side and answered questions from GIANTS Facebook fans, saying that he would like Israel Folau to kick 20 to 30 goals in the 2012 season.
“It’s been a solid morning’s work, that’s for sure. Today has been their longest session so far and I think that the running drills at the end will really help them to understand the running out of an AFL game.
“Some of the boys that we had last year have really lifted.
“Obviously Tom Scully and Callan Ward are very, very good players and are training very hard and very well. From this year’s crop, I think young Nick Haynes is looking pretty good. He looks like he’s going to be a very good player.
“I think Izzy has an opportunity to kick 20 to 30 goals this year. We don’t have any players at the moment that can kick 50 to 80 goals so we need to get our goals through a number of players.”
