Greater Western Sydney GIANTS co-captain Callan Ward is set to miss at least the next two weeks after scans revealed he was suffering from the early stages of Osteitis Pubis.

John Quinn, Head of Sport Science for the GIANTS, explained that Ward had a history of Osteitis Pubis and that the club would manage his rehabilitation carefully.

“Callan has been experiencing increasing groin pain in last few weeks. Scans have now revealed OP changes in his groins, so we will need to monitor that closely. He will miss at least the next fortnight of football,” he said.

Number one draft pick Jonathon Patton will miss this week’s game after injuring his shoulder in the GIANTS’ win over Port Adelaide on Saturday.

“Jon fell awkwardly on his shoulder and scans have since revealed a small tear and labaral damage. The next steps for us are to meet with the surgeons to determine the best course of action.”

The GIANTS will also be without young midfielder Toby Greene, who looks set to miss the next one to two weeks with groin soreness.

"It's to be expected that a long season will take it toll on young players, especially teenagers playing their first season of AFL,” explained Quinn.

"Toby Greene has already played 16 games this season and this is at the upper limit of the number of matches we wanted any first year player to playthis year.

“Our next three games are on the road and we have already had a considerable travel load throughout the season.

"We have managed our young playing list accordingly and that is why we have already played 34 debutants this year with one or two more expected to also feature before the end of the season.

Scans this week showed abnormalities in Sam Frosts’ hip and he will now meet with surgeons, but will likely miss the remainder of the season.
