The Greater Western Sydney GIANTS have made two changes to their team for the Round 4 clash with the Adelaide Crows at AAMI Stadium on Saturday.
James McDonald will return to the side on Saturday following his two match suspension, while eighteen-year-old Shaun Edwards will make his AFL debut.
Jeremy Cameron and Toby Greene will both miss this weekend due to soreness.
Edwards was recruited by the GIANTS as a 17 year old in 2010 under the club’s zone selection rules. Originally from the Northern Territory, Edwards was a member of the 2011 AIS AFL Academy and was recruited from Melbourne Grammar in Victoria.
Head Coach Kevin Sheedy congratulated Edwards on being selected to make his AFL debut and said that the added experience of McDonald would be a boost for his young side this week. Edwards is the 19th GIANTS player to make his AFL debut this season.
“Shaun Edwards will be playing his first game. He’s a very exciting player and is an Indigenous boy from the Northern Territory. He has great speed and athleticism that he will bring in to the team.
“It’s great to have Junior (James) McDonald back. He played a very good game in the opener against the Swans and we’ll welcome that experience but in to the team when we go to Adelaide.”
