The Slater & Gordon GIANTS Academy showcased their impressive talent to win both matches against the Sydney Swans in the AFL Academy Series at Lakeside Oval last Friday.
After a week long camp at The King’s School in Parramatta, both the U18 Slater & Gordon GIANTS Academy and U16 Slater & Gordon Academy were too strong for their opponents.
The U18 GIANTS Academy impressed all with their emphatic 125 point victory, which was tremendous effort following the draw both sides played out in the first game of the Academy Series earlier this year in Blacktown.
The U16 GIANTS were also impressive in the opening game of their series, recording a solid 34 point win.
Slater & Gordon GIANTS Academy Manager, Lachlan Buszard, said the week long camp at the King’s School in the lead up to the matches paid dividends on field.
“Both the Academy sides showed the advantages of having the group together for a couple of days prior, even if they may have suffered from cabin fever as they were kept inside due to Sydney's torrential rain,” he said.
The backline was superb today and it was pleasing to see both the 16's & 18's replicate what we had been talking about and learning during the week,” said Buszard.
Buszard praised all associated with the Academy for the tremendous results achieved.
“The results today are testament to the numerous hours that both our Academy coaches and staff, AFL Regional Talent staff and local Club volunteers put in to provide positive and inclusive environments for our zoned players to learn and develop their football in the Slater & Gordon Giants Academy Program,” said Buszard
