Exciting young forward Bobby Hill is “living the dream” at the GIANTS, signing a contract extension to remain at the club until at least the end of the 2022 season.

The 19-year-old has enjoyed a promising start to his AFL career, playing seven games since making his debut in round 17.

Quickly becoming a fan favourite, Hill has kicked seven goals and shown flashes of the brilliance that saw him selected with the GIANTS’ fourth pick (24th overall) in the 2018 NAB AFL Draft.

“I’m stoked to put pen to paper at the GIANTS,” Hill said.

“It was a dream come true just getting drafted but once you put the guernsey on it’s something different.

“I’m doing it for myself, my family and the GIANTS fans out there; I’m loving it.”

Hill has quickly settled into life at the GIANTS which he puts down to the club’s strong culture and having grown up a GIANTS fan.

Hill’s cousin Gerald Ugle was an inaugural GIANT and played three games at the club. 

“When I was a bit younger, I was the only kid in Northam (a town 97km east of Perth) walking around with a GIANTS kit on,” he said.

To play for them is a dream come true and to be building a culture here, you build it really, really quick with guys like Toby Greene, Jeremy Cameron and Zac Williams around.

GIANTS List Manager Jason McCartney said the club is pleased to extend Hill’s time at the club.

“We’re very happy with how well Bobby has settled in and we’re really impressed with what he’s achieved in his first season at AFL level,” McCartney said.

“To make his debut in his first season after overcoming pre-season shoulder surgery demonstrated great work ethic and attention to detail.

“His growth both on and off the field this year has been evident to all and we’re excited by what the future holds for Bobby.”

Hill is the latest GIANT to sign a contract extension this year following vice-captains Stephen Coniglio and Josh Kelly in addition to Jacob Hopper, Nick Haynes, Adam Kennedy, Harry Himmelberg, Brent Daniels, Matt de Boer and more.
