The AFL’s 18th and newest club the Greater Western Sydney GIANTS are pleased to welcome their community partners.
GIANTS Chief Executive David Matthews said the club was committed to helping build a better community through its corporate social responsibility agenda.
“We have already announced our partnership with the University of Western Sydney and work is under way in delivering key outcomes across education, health, harmony and inclusion,” Matthews said.
“I am pleased to say that the Learning and Life Centre program for low SES youth in partnership with the Blacktown City Council and the AFL is starting to gain traction.”
In addition, the GIANTS have identified the following community organisations to partner the club.
They are:
• Australian Diabetes Council
• Headspace
• Westmead Medical Research Foundation
• Catholic Care Social Services
• Asthma Foundation
Matthews said the GIANTS corporate social responsibility agenda focused on social and health issues affecting Western Sydney but also the broader community.
“We have sought partners that share the same core values and beliefs around social inclusion and health outcomes and in doing so have focussed on both physical and mental health issues,” he said.
“We will help deliver a range of initiatives and programs throughout the year to assist each of these organisations and underlines this clubs commitment to community engagement for community benefit.
“ I want to sincerely thank each of our community partners and welcome them to our club. We trust the entire GIANTS family supports these very important not-for-profit organisations and together we can help make a genuine difference in our community.”
