In summary
Greater Western Sydney entered the NAB AFL Draft as the key player and aiming to add depth to all parts of the ground. With key forwards always such a prized commodity, the Giants went for Jonathon Patton at No.1, the consensus first pick leading into the draft. Stephen Coniglio and Dom Tyson add to their onball brigade, while Will Hoskin-Elliott is a winger and Matthew Buntine should add to their defence, rounding out a diverse top five. They have added pieces in every position and decided to take a chance on former Carlton forward Setanta O'hAilpin with pick 79.

What the recruiter said
"There's a lot of versatility in our choices and we wanted to make sure we didn't panic at all. We knew what we were getting through the door and there was more than enough there to get that flexibility. There's been a lot of work go into it and it's all so exciting." Stephen Silvagni, national list and recruitment manager.

Pick 1: Jonathon Patton, Eastern Ranges
Silvagni says: "Key position forward and a contested mark. They're hard to find key position players. We're delighted to get him with the number one pick."

Pick 2: Stephen Coniglio, Swan Districts
Silvagni says: "Great kick and a leader by his actions. He's a super player who can play inside and out. We're rapt to have him at the club. Great attitude and wills his teammates over the line."

Pick 3: Dom Tyson, Oakleigh Chargers
Silvagni says: "He's another great kid. Really clean with his hands. An inside player who really sets up the play."

Pick 4: Will Hoskin-Elliott, Western Jets
Silvagni says: "I think Hoskin-Elliott has some real upside to him. He obviously tested really well at the combine. He's one that could really be something special."

Pick 5: Matthew Buntine, Dandenong Stingrays
Silvagni says: "He's a tough backman who potentially could go through the midfield some days. We like that versatility."

Pick 7: Nick Haynes, Dandenong Stingrays
Silvagni says: "He had four years off footy and has only recently come back to the game. He got back playing last year and has a real upside. He's 19, but hasn't played a lot of footy. Could play the third tall and run through the midfield one day."

Pick 9: Adam Tomlinson, Oakleigh Chargers
Silvagni says: "Another versatile player. He's a really good kid from a great family. He can play forward and back."

Pick 10: Liam Sumner, Sandringham Dragons
Silvagni says: "He's really special. I love his defensive pressure and he's a really good mark for his size. Gives you good run and carry."

Pick 11: Toby Greene, Oakleigh Chargers
Silvagni says: "We're rapt to have Toby. He's a real hard nut and has an AFL work-rate."

Pick 13: Taylor Adams, Geelong Falcons
Silvagni says: "Another inside player who's really tough. He has a real will to make it in AFL football."

Pick 14: Devon Smith, Geelong Falcons
Silvagni says: "He's that small forward-cum-midfielder type. He had an interrupted pre-season after an outstanding year last year. He probably wasn't at his best this year, but certainly has a lot of talent."

Pick 56: Tom Downie, North Ballarat Rebels
Silvagni says: "He's a ruckman who stands 203, 204cm and has only played a handful of games. He was a state basketballer, a bit of a project player, but a great prospect."

Pick 79: Setanta O'hAilpin
Silvagni says: "He's one that is the type of player we wanted on board who can play forward and back and pinch hit in the ruck. He'll give us some strength around the footy."

Pick 87: James McDonald
Silvagni says: "He's already been up here helping with training and just has a great attitude. His experience and the quality player that he is, the players have just been ecstatic to have him on board."

Pick 90: Pass
