The GIANTS draftees are preparing for their first ever AFL season. The club’s young guns are adapting to their increased training loads and spending more time on the track with the club’s main group as the GIANTS’ historic first match against the Sydney Swans at ANZ Stadium on March 24 draws closer.
Two budding AFL players excited about the massive challenge that lies ahead for them this year are Liam Sumner and Nick Haynes.
“It’s been a really big step up from the TAC Cup level. It goes up a notch and the intensity is a lot higher,” Sumner said.
“Tom Scully has been working really hard out on the track. There are a few draftees that have really impressed me as well, Devon Smith has really come out and lit up a few times.
“The season coming up will be really exciting because we’re a new team coming in to it. Expect new and different things and excitement.”
