Midfielder Callan Ward has come straight back into the GIANTS line-up as the only change for Sunday’s huge clash with Port Adelaide at Metricon Stadium.
Coach Leon Cameron welcomed back his former skipper who takes the place of Tommy Sheridan, who was the late in for Ward last week.
"No doubt Callan’s excited to get back out there and it’s great to have him back in after the week off,” Cameron said.
“He didn’t train much last week and we just didn't want to risk it, knowing full well he’s coming off a season out of the game.
“He’s had a full week of training and he’s really starting to get going with his form since his return so we look forward to his influence in the midfield again on Sunday.
“Tommy’s pretty unlucky to go out, he played his role really well in last week’s clash but he’ll go back and play in the reserves match on Saturday to try and fight his way back into this side.
“It’s a huge test for us on Sunday against the Power who are obviously right up the top of the AFL ladder for a reason.
“They’ve been in some great form so far in 2020 and we’re really looking forward to shaping up against them on the Gold Coast on Sunday.”
The GIANTS take on Port Adelaide at Metricon Stadium on Sunday while the non-selected players will participate in a practice match against Hawthorn at Tom Wills Oval on Saturday.
Sunday's game will see Toby Greene reach life membership of the club as he plays his 150th game and Heath Shaw break his family's games record with his 314th AFL match.
