Key defender Phil Davis will be a test ahead of Sunday night’s clash with the Hawks at GIANTS Stadium.

After coming off with a hamstring injury in the third quarter of Friday night’s win over Collingwood, Davis’ scans have come back clear on his right hamstring.

“Phil just felt a little bit of tightness in his hamstring and we decided not to take any risks with him,” Ball said.

“He’s had a scan done which came up really well for us. That's clear and he’ll be a test for this week's game and fingers crossed he’ll be all good.”

Running defender Zac Williams is expected to miss four weeks after scans on his hamstring injury revealed an injury.

“He had a little grab in his hamstring when he kicked the ball off the ground early in that third quarter,” Ball said.

"We got a scan on his hamstring which just shows a little split in his upper hamstring tendon. We think Zac will probably miss about a month.”

In the reserves practice match earlier in the day on Friday, young defender Isaac Cumming also suffered a significant hamstring injury which will sideline him for 10-12 weeks.

“It’s really disappointing for ‘Cheese’,” Ball said.

“He put in a lot of good work over the pre-season and was travelling along really well.

“Unfortunately he had an incident in that game and his scan shows he has torn that tendon in the upper part of his hamstring pretty badly.

“He’s an excellent professional and will rip into his rehab and come out the other side just fine.”

For the first time in over 12 months, ruckman Matt Flynn will not be on the injury list as he gets set to make his return from an ACL injury in a practice match on Sunday.

“‘Flynny’s’ done really well with his rehab, been really professional and ticked every box,” Ball said.

“He’s done everything we could have asked of him and more by himself.

“He’s just finished a block of four weeks of full contact training with the team so he’s come through that really well and looks really good.

“We expect he’ll be available this weekend, most likely in the NEAFL practice match.”

Meanwhile, reigning Kevin Sheedy Medallist Tim Taranto is also edging closer to a return from his shoulder reconstruction and is 2-3 weeks away from playing again.
