The Slater & Gordon GIANTS Academy Under 15 squad will today compete in the Grand Final of the V-Line Country Championships in Melbourne after two convincing wins over the first two days of the carnival.
The 24-man Academy squad, which is made up of players from Western Sydney, Broken Hill, Canberra and Rural NSW defeated both Bendigo and Ballarat over the first two days.
AFL Victoria run the V-Line Country Championships which are designed to showcase the Regional AFL talent at the U15 age.
There are three divisions at the Carnival with the Slater & Gordon Giants Academy playing in Division 3.
Academy members also witnessed last week's Collingwood v Carlton blockbuster at the MCG as part of the Slater & Gordon GIANTS Academy Development Program.
Slater & Gordon GIANTS Academy Manager Lachlan Buszard said that these results were a great sign for the program.
"We're thrilled with the results over the first two days and that our Under 15s will be playing in the final.
"For some of these kids, the Collingwood v Carlton match was the first time that they had ever been to the MCG and we hope that we get to see some of them run out there in GIANTS colours one day," he said.
