Greater Western Sydney GIANTS midfielder Toby Greene will return to the side to play Port Adelaide at ŠKODA Stadium this Sunday.
Greene missed the match against Geelong with quad tightness and has been named along with midfielders Will Hoskin-Elliott and Zac Williams in a squad of 25.
Hoskin-Elliott has been out of the GIANTS team since round three while Williams, a product of the Slater &Gordon GIANTS Academy, impressed in the first three games of his debut season.
Head Coach Kevin Sheedy welcomed their return. “Hoskin-Elliott and Williams have been impressive in the NEAFL and it’s great to have Hoskin-Elliott back in the squad having been off the scene for a while," said Sheedy.
“It’s always great to have the runner-up in your best and fairest return and that’s what we’ve got in Toby Greene coming back.”
The GIANTS defeated Port Adelaide by 34 points in the corresponding match at ŠKODA Stadium last year in Kevin Sheedy’s 1000thVFL/AFL match as a player and coach. Port defeated the GIANTS by 56 points at AAMI Stadium in Round 2 this year.
“We’ve built a nice little rivalry with Port Adelaide in our short time in the competition and Sunday’s match at ŠKODA Stadium is sure to add another chapter to this,” Sheedy said.
“We’ve had an eight day break since playing the Cats and it’s important for us to put together a strong four quarter effort before the bye.”
