GIANTS players have visited the Children’s Hospital at Westmead as part of the Lifebroker Gentle GIANTS program.

Co-Captain Callan Ward, ruckman Jonathan Giles, midfielder Adam Treloar and first year defender Lachie Plowman handed out GIANTS colouring-in books, footballs and donated children’s furniture.

The visits aim to brighten people's day while also establishing meaningful connections for years to come.

Lifebroker Gentle GIANTS ambassador Jonathan Giles says the players enjoy being part of the program.

“It’s great to get out and visit those who are doing it tough at the moment and try and put a smile on their face,” said Giles.

“The whole squad has been visiting schools and hospitals this week ahead of the bye and it’s been great spending time with GIANTS fans in the community.”

The GIANTS have spent the last two days visiting over 100 schools and junior clubs throughout the GIANTS zone across Western Sydney, Canberra and regional NSW.

As well as the visit to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, GIANTS players have been to hospitals in Wagga Wagga, Albury, Orange and Bega as part of the Lifebroker Gentle GIANTS program.

The GIANTS also spent time at Westmead Hospital’s Adolescent Ward sharing heathy lifestyle tips with teenagers suffering from eating disorders.

Gail Anderson, Clinical Nurse Consultant, Adolescent Medicine at Westmead Hospital, said the patients and staff were thrilled to have players from the GIANTS visit the ward.

“It's wonderful that the players are able to take time out of their busy schedules to visit our patients and staff at the hospital,” said Ms. Anderson.

“Some of our patients really look up to these football players and see them as their idols, so to have them visit us and spend time with our patients is truly fabulous, and gives young adults hope and inspiration.”
