The GIANTS have welcomed the launch of Brand Canberra as the nation’s capital enters its second century.

In 2013 Canberra celebrated its centenary with a number of events and festivals, including a record crowd of 11,092 at the GIANTS’ first game under the new lights at StarTrack Oval Canberra.

Canberra is a city steeped in Australian football history and has produced some of the great names of the game such as Alex Jesaulenko and James Hird who were named in the ACT-Southern NSW Team of the Century.

The GIANTS have established a long-term presence in Canberra through their partnership with the ACT Government.

The GIANTS will play four games a year at StarTrack Oval for 10 years, including three AFL Premiership matches every season.

The GIANTS’ 2014 NAB Challenge series kicks off with a clash against the Sydney Swans at StarTrack Oval on February 20 and the venue is set to host three home GIANTS matches next season.

Brand Canberra was launched on Thursday with the city looking towards its future with the logo reflecting the new concept of CBR - Confident. Bold. Ready.

“Talking to Canberrans from every walk of life, there's a feeling that Canberra has reached a tipping point," they write on www.brandcanberra.com.au

"We've come of age. Our city is growing, and our society is one of the youngest, best educated and most inclusive in Australia. Now, as we approach the end of our Centenary year, we need a new focus for the future.”
