The Greater Western Sydney GIANTS are pleased to launch the Slater & Gordon Gentle GIANTS program.
The Slater & Gordon Gentle GIANTS will see GIANTS players visit childrens’ wards in hospitals across NSW, the ACT and Victoria.
GIANTS players today visited Campbelltown Hospital where they handed out footballs, colouring books and crayons to children as part of a number of visits to hospitals this year.
GIANTS Chief Executive David Matthews said the Slater & Gordon Gentle GIANTS was another example of the club's commitment to the community.
“Slater & Gordon has been a loyal and committed partner of the GIANTS and we are delighted they are joining us to help deliver the Slater & Gordon Gentle GIANTS," Matthews said.
"We know visits by players to hospitals not just help brighten people's day but also help establish meaningful connections for years to come. The Slater & Gordon Gentle GIANTS aims to achieve both these objectives.
"Our players not only enjoy their work in the community but also recognise the importance of giving something back to those who support our game, particularly in Western Sydney and Canberra.”
Slater & Gordon Campbelltown lawyer Ashley Russell said the firm represented many local families whose children had been injured in accidents and saw firsthand how it could impact on their lives.
“We understand how tough it is for families dealing with the traumatic situation of having a child in hospital recovering from a serious accident,” Ms Russell said.
“It can be a physically and psychologically draining for all family members involved to see their child couped up in a hospital.
“That is why we are proudly supporting this program which will hopefully uplift the spirits of not only the children in hospital, but their families also.
“Giving back to the community goes to the heart of what we do as individuals and as a firm, and our goal is to have a positive impact on the communities in which we operate.”
Program ambassador Jonathan Giles said the players looked forward to being part of the Slater & Gordon Gentle GIANTS program."We love going out to the community and particularly into hospitals where we can hopefully bring some joy to people who are doing it tough,” he said
"It not only helps put a smile on their faces but also gives us a lot of satisfaction and reminds us of what is important in the community."
