The GIANTS could receive a timely boost with both Toby Greene and Josh Kelly hopeful of returning to take on Collingwood on Friday night.
Head of Medical Cullan Ball has told the Westfund Rehab Report that both key players were close to playing against the Bulldogs in round three.
“Unfortunately after our main session, Josh pulled up a little bit tight in his calf and given the fact it was a couple of days out from the game we took no chances with him,” said Ball.
“Toby was quite similar in that after the Kangaroos game he pulled up with a bit of soreness behind his knee and he went really close to being ok for the game on Friday but again, with the short turnaround we took no chances with him.”
Both players are expected to push their case at Tuesday’s main training session.
Meanwhile, both Lachie Whitfield and Brent Daniels will be monitored in the coming days after suffering concussions on Friday night.
Whitfield took no further part after quarter-time after a heavy collision with Dogs forward Aaron Naughton while Brent Daniels and captain Stephen Coniglio clashed heads late in the match.
“There’s a set of protocols in place and both players have to go through a number of stages through that process this week and see where they get to,” said Ball.
“The fastest they can turn around is six days between games so we have a spare day up our sleeve and we’ll monitor both players over the next few days and progress them from there.”
All other members of the team have pulled up well and at this stage are expected to be available for selection in round four.
