The UWS GIANTS will play nine AFL curtain-raisers in Sydney and Canberra next year following the release of the 2015 NEAFL fixture.

The UWS GIANTS will kick off their season against the Gold Coast Suns reserves at Henson Park in Marrickville on April 11.

The season will feature nine home games at Spotless Stadium, Henson Park and Robertson Oval in Wagga Wagga and away games in Sydney, Canberra, Darwin, Brisbane and the Gold Coast, as well as three byes.

The UWS GIANTS finished as minor premiers in 2014 but just feel short of a Grand Final berth, losing to eventual winners Aspley in the Preliminary Final.

For the first time in NEAFL history, all 11 teams will play each other at least once. National AFL Second Tier Manager Simon Laughton said the fixture allows for a truly unified competition since its inception as a two-conference format in 2011.

“It’s pleasing to see all clubs will play each other for the first time, which shows a continued growth of the NEAFL into an elite second tier competition in Australia,” he said.

“There should be no easy games in 2015 and we are looking forward to a competitive season with condensed 11-team format.”
