Forget about the Big V. For the Holroyd Parramatta Goannas it's all about the GIANT G.

This year the club's Division 1 players will wear a new look jumper featuring a GIANT G on their chest.

The new playing guernsey, funded by the Goannas' major sponsor, Merrylands RSL Club, was launched last night.

GIANTS Senior Assistant Coach Alan McConnell attended the function to hand out the jumpers and address players ahead of the season.

The club's marketing manager Peter Taylor said although the ‘G’ stands for Goannas, the use of the logo is also a tribute to the GIANTS.

“We have had a great relationship with the GIANTS over the last few years dating back to when the team used to train at our oval in Greystanes before entering the AFL,” Taylor said.

“It’s an exciting, fresh start for us and when this opportunity came up we jumped at it.

“We visited the club earlier this month and even talked Kevin Sheedy into trying on our new jumper which was a great thrill.”

The new guernseys will be phased into the club across all grades over the next three years.
