Key defender Tim Mohr is one of six inclusions in the GIANTS squad to play Hawthorn at the MCG this Sunday.
Mohr is yet to play a game this season following foot and knee injuries. Forward Jed Lamb, midfielder Jake Barrett and defenders Kristian Jaksch, Nathan Wilson and Sam Frost have also been named in the 25-man squad.
Midfielders Stephen Coniglio (shoulder) and Josh Kelly (eye) will miss through injury while defender Stephen Gilham has been omitted.
Head Coach Leon Cameron says the GIANTS are looking forward to bouncing back against the Hawks.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity after a disappointing couple of weeks but our boys have trained really well,” said Cameron.
“The guys understand the importance of the game, and making sure we get back to that competitive brand of footy.
“The guys love playing at the MCG, we know it’s the mecca of AFL football, it’s where all the finals and the grand finals are played so it’s a great opportunity to get to play there.
“It’s also a bonus to play one of the best sides in the competition in Hawthorn so it’s going to be a great test and a great measure of where we are at,” he said.
The GIANTS will wear a special jumper in Indigenous Round for the first time with Western Sydney artist Chris Edwards, a descendant of the Gumbaynggirr people from Nambucca Heads in northern New South Wales designing the GIANTS jumper.
The GIANTS play Hawthorn at the MCG at 4.40pm on Sunday June 1 with the match being broadcast in NSW and the ACT on Fox Footy and 7mate.
