The Chairman of the Greater Western Sydney GIANTS Tony Shepherd thanked GIANTS fans after the club's first ever win over cross town rivals the Swans.

"To beat the Swans by 32 points was not only a great win but a significant moment in the club's short history," he said.

"It was also a special moment for the fans who have stuck with us over the past two years. We always said this was going to be a journey and there is still a long way to go for our young side.

"Yesterday was our biggest ever crowd at Spotless Stadium at Sydney Olympic Park despite horrendous weather conditions and the atmosphere was simply fantastic.

"We want to not only grow our fan base but continue to grow the game in Western Sydney and Canberra and be open and accessible to the fans.

"We have already signed up more than 10,000 members this year and we hope we can get to 15,000 and I would encourage anyone who has not signed up as member yet to get on board for what will be an exciting journey ahead."

The GIANTS play St Kilda at Etihad Stadium on March 29 and their next home game at Spotless Stadium at Sydney Olympic Park is against Melbourne on April 6.
