Newly appointed NEAFL coach Brad Miller says his decision to join the GIANTS was a “no brainer” given the talented list of young players at the club.
Miller, who officially started work this week, as the first to fourth year players began pre-season training, will oversee the UWS GIANTS in the NEAFL next season.
The 32-year old takes over from Brett Hand who moves into the newly created role of Head of Development and Welfare.
Miller has spent the last two seasons in a development role with Melbourne, a position which has prepared him well for coaching the GIANTS’ up-and-coming players.
“The guys i’ll be working with are mostly at the start of their career so their youthful enthusiasm to learn is exciting to me as a coach,” Miller said.
“Being able to see young guys develop and have that carrot of playing senior football is really attractive to me.
“Obviously the GIANTS are a really talented team… so it was a no brainer when the role to coach the 'two’s' came about."
The UWS GIANTS have finished the last two seasons as minor premiers but have been unable to secure their inaugural premiership.
With another pre-season under their belt, the UWS GIANTS are expected to be around the mark again in 2016.
“No pressure” Miller joked.
“At the moment I’m just starting to get to know the guys and really build relationships with the people I’ll be working a lot with.
“That’s my focus at the moment, we’ll worry about that stuff (results) when we start.”
Miller played 157 games for Melbourne and Richmond in a career spanning more than a decade.
He is the latest addition to the GIANTS coaching staff, with former St Kilda Champion Lenny Hayes also joining the club as an assistant coach.
